Northampton Castle railway station redevelopment takes step forward
Northampton's Castle railway development takes step forward with the appointment of a design team.
Northamptonshire County Council and WNDC have commissioned Hyder Consulting as the design team to create a new station design and improved road and footbridge access. Later plans will include a commercial development on surrounding land.
"Studies show that Northampton Station is already at capacity during peak hours, while the station building and its associated facilities are out-of-date, and a constraint to economic growth," WNDC said.
Design work should be completed by the end of 2010.
