With the FIFA 2010 World Cup putting the spotlight firmly on South Africa , emita invite you to join us at our evening seminar on Wednesday 19 May to discover there is much more to this vibrant emerging market economy than just football!
Covering only 3% of the African continent but very much Africa’s superpower, South Africa accounts for a massive 40% of all industrial output, 25% of GDP and is by far the most highly developed free-market economy in Africa.
The UK is one of South Africa ’s most significant trading partners with a two-way trade in goods and services valued at over £7 billion. In addition the time difference is never more than 2 hours and English is the business language, making South Africa an ideal export market for UK companies.
The event will take place at the National Space Centre in Leicester and we will be joined by the UK Trade Commissioner to South Africa, Brian Gallagher, and the UK Trade and Investment Business Specialist for South Africa , Shakeel Mughal, who will share their expertise on:
- The South African economy and trading conditions
- The key business opportunities in individual regions and a variety of sectors
- Using the country as a springboard into other emerging markets on the continent
- The opportunities arising from South Africa ’s £65 billion fiscal stimulus package and how companies in the region can capitalise on them
- Conducting business in South Africa and how to overcome the pitfalls
Eileen Williams from the ESTC Group will also share with us her company’s experiences of setting up a South African-based firm and joint venture, including how the growth of the company has resulted in winning business to provide training and consultancy for stadia and related companies who will be involved in the FIFA 2010 World Cup.
The event will commence with registration and light refreshments from 5.00 pm, with the presentations beginning at 5.30 pm. The evening will draw to a close at 7.30 pm followed by a networking buffet.
